Il Borro Winery, owned by the Ferragamo family, acquires its Tuscan counterpart Pinino

The Il Borro winery, owned by the founding family of Italian luxury brand Salvatore Ferragamo, announced the acquisition of the Pinino winery located in the Montalcino region of Tuscany’s core area. This move aims to further expand the range of high-quality wines and strengthen its leadership position in the high-end wine industry.

Pinino Winery covers an area of 21 hectares, including 16.24 hectares of vineyards -7.67 hectares for Brunello, 5.42 hectares for Montalcino red wine, and 3.15 hectares for Sangiovese. After the acquisition is completed, they will be owned by Il Borro Winery and are expected to increase its production by 80000 bottles per year. Pinino Winery’s wines will also be supplied to all restaurants under Il Borro Winery, including Florence, Dubai, and London.

In 1993, the Ferragamo family acquired the Il Borro winery, which is now managed by Salvatore, son of Ferruccio Ferragamo, and his daughter Vittoria, responsible for the sustainable development of the estate. In 2023, Boluo Winery’s annual revenue exceeded 22 million euros, a year-on-year increase of 18%. The grape planting and winemaking department grew by 20%, and sales in various markets also significantly increased.

This acquisition is part of Il Borro Winery’s growth strategy, which includes wine and agricultural production, global catering, selected hotels, international distribution, and brand awareness. Investing in the Montalcino region marks the strategic expansion of Il Borro Winery, consolidating its leadership position in the wine industry and focusing on enhancing its supply capacity to the US market to meet the growing demand for high-end wines.
