According to data, the total export revenue of Pakistan’s footwear and leather industry in the previous fiscal year was 850 million US dollars, a year-on-year decrease of 8%. The fiscal year of Pakistan is from July to June of the following year.
In terms of footwear exports, the annual revenue for the previous fiscal year was $162 million, a year-on-year decrease of 9.2%.
In terms of finished product exports, the annual revenue for the previous fiscal year was 137.6 million US dollars, a year-on-year decrease of 18%. The annual revenue of finished leather products, including clothing, reached $545 million in the previous fiscal year, a year-on-year decrease of 5.5%.
Mohammad Mel Ali, the chairman of the Pakistan Tanners Association (PTA), said that domestic businesses in Pakistan should have received about $9 million in tax relief, but the government withheld the money. Therefore, some manufacturers have already stopped production, while others are also considering stopping production.
