Jimmy Choo is a British luxury brand named after Chinese shoe designer Zhou Yangjie.
On July 25, 2017, luxury fashion brand Michael Kors announced that it would acquire women’s shoe and bag brand Jimmy Choo for $1.2 billion. Belongs to Capri Holdings Limited.
The Jimmy Choo brand was co founded by Zhou Yangjie and Tamara Yeardie Mellon, the clothing accessories editor of VOGUE magazine in the UK, in 1996. The brand started with custom-made shoes and has served multiple royal families and celebrities, including the late British Princess Diana. The distinctive feature of the brand lies in its exquisite craftsmanship and unique design style, known as the “high heels that every girl yearns for”.
Jimmy Choo’s first store was opened on Motcomb Street in London in 1996, and subsequently opened branches around the world in cities such as London, Paris, Rome, New York, and Tokyo. The brand belongs to Capri Holdings Limited and is listed on the New York Stock Exchange. Sandra Choi, the creative director of the brand, learned shoe making skills from her uncle Zhou Yangjie since childhood and eventually became a professional designer.
